Magician for a Kids Birthday in Dubai: What Happens, Prices and Best Ages

The magician is the most-booked kids entertainer in Dubai and the one parents ask the most about. Here's what actually happens in the 40 minutes, which ages it works for, whether to book the solo show or a two-hour combo, how to set the room and the sound, and what it costs.

Magician for a Kids Birthday in Dubai: What Happens, Prices and Best Ages

Ask Dubai parents which entertainer they'd book again and the magician wins by a distance. It's also the booking that comes with the most questions: how long is the show, is my four-year-old too young, will my shy child be pulled to the front, do I need a microphone, and should I book the show on its own or the two-hour combo that costs AED 149 more. This guide answers all of them, with the figures from the product pages on balloondekor.ae.

If you just want to book, our magician in Dubai page has the package and the reviews. If you want to know what you're booking, read on.

What Happens in a Kids Birthday Magic Show

The magic show (AED 950) runs 35 to 40 minutes. The magician performs standing in one spot at the front of the room, so it's a seated show: children on the floor in front, parents behind. He brings his own music track and props. Expect a warm-up of quick, funny tricks to settle the room, then a longer middle built on participation, where children are called up to hold, blow on or wave at something, and a finale that gets the whole room shouting.

The birthday child is the assistant for at least one trick. Tell us at booking if they're shy, and the magician will give them a small, safe part rather than the big one; a child who is nervous in front of a crowd shouldn't find out on the day. Tell us the name too, so it's used from the first minute.

The Best Ages for a Magician at a Kids Party in Dubai

Four to ten is the window. At four, a child can sit for 40 minutes if the show keeps moving; at ten they still gasp when something vanishes, even while working out how.

Under four, book the bubble show instead. A two-year-old doesn't follow a trick; she sees a man waving a scarf. The 40-minute bubble show (AED 999) holds toddlers in a way magic can't, and our 1st birthday guide explains what else works at that age.

Eleven and up want to catch him out. That's fine; a good magician plays with it, and tweens love being the one called up to inspect the box. But past eleven, the science show (AED 1,799) usually lands better. For a mixed-age family party, book a combo so the magician can pitch the show at the middle and give the older cousins the balloon twisting to run.

Tell us the ages when you book; the same magician runs a different set for five-year-olds and nine-year-olds.

Magic Show vs Magician Combo: Which to Book

BookingPriceWhat the magician does
Magic show onlyAED 95035–40 minute show, music track; no speaker or mic
Magician comboAED 1,0992 hours: show, balloon twisting, hosting; portable speaker
Magician and face painting comboAED 1,4992 hours: show, face painting, balloons, hosting
Bubble show with magician comboAED 1,5992 hours: show, bubble show, balloons, hosting; speaker
Kids entertainer comboAED 1,7992 hours: show, bubbles, face painting, balloons, hosting; speaker
Photobooth comboAED 1,7992 hours: show, balloons, hosting, plus a photobooth; speaker

For most home parties the magician combo (AED 1,099) is the better buy. For AED 149 more than the solo show, the same performer stays two hours: he hosts the arrivals and games, runs the show in the middle, then twists balloon models while the cake comes out. He brings a portable speaker, so the microphone question answers itself.

Book the solo show when the rest of the party is already covered: you have a party anchor or an art station, the venue has its own sound, or the party is short and the show is the event. Add face painting or the bubble show to the combo when the guest list passes 20 and you want a second thing running; our art stations guide explains how the face painting half of that combo works. All the combos are one artist doing things in sequence, so for 30 or more children, pair the combo with a separate station rather than stacking more skills on one person.

Setting the Room for a Magic Show

Three metres by three at the front. The magician works from one spot, so he needs a clear patch with a wall or the decoration behind him and nothing behind the children to look at. In a Marina or JLT apartment that means pushing the sofa back. Put a rug down for the children and keep the adults behind them, standing, so no one blocks the sightline.

A small side table. The solo show doesn't include one. A coffee table or a folding table at waist height holds the props.

Sound. The solo show includes the music track but not a sound system or microphone, and in a living room with 15 children that's fine. In a hall, a clubhouse or a garden with 40 guests, you need a speaker and a mic, so either hire one or book a combo, which brings a portable speaker. Our price guide lists what each booking does and doesn't include.

Nothing competing. Pause the face painter, hold the mascot in the next room and keep the cake out of sight until the show ends. A magician performing to the backs of heads is the most common thing we see go wrong.

Timing the Show in the Party

Not at the start. Dubai guests arrive over the first half hour, and a show that begins at the invitation time plays to six children while the rest walk in behind them. Run it 40 to 50 minutes after the start, when the room is full and the first snacks are gone, and before the cake, so the magician hands the room straight to the candles. For a two-hour party that's a show at the one-hour mark. With a solo show, put a station or games in the first stretch; with the combo, the magician handles the flow himself.

Where We Book Magicians in Dubai

Everywhere, and the setup differs by venue. In apartment towers in Dubai Marina, JLT, Downtown and Business Bay, register the performer with security the day before and share the parking. In villa communities such as Arabian Ranches, The Springs and Jumeirah Park, a garden show works from November to March, in the shade; from May to September bring it indoors. For community halls, nurseries and restaurant private rooms, book the combo for the speaker. The price is the same in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates; give a full day's notice there and a week for weekend slots in the cooler months.

What a Magician Costs in Dubai

On balloondekor.ae the solo show is AED 950 and the combos run from AED 1,099 to AED 1,799. For a party of 20 that's AED 48 a child for the 40-minute show, or AED 55 a child for two hours of show, balloons and hosting with the combo. The only extras are a side table for the solo show and a sound system if the room is big. There is no different price for weekends or evenings, and no travel charge inside the UAE. For every entertainer price side by side, see our kids entertainer price guide, and for how a magician fits with the rest of the line-up, the Dubai kids party activities guide.

What Parents Get Wrong

Booking the show for the invitation time. Booking a magician for a second birthday. Putting 40 children in a hall with no microphone. Letting the face painter keep working through the show. Expecting a 40-minute show to carry a three-hour party, which is what the combo is for. And not telling us the birthday child's name and temperament, which is the one detail that changes the show the most.

Book a Magician for a Kids Birthday on balloondekor.ae

Choose the solo show or a combo on balloondekor.ae, pick the date and slot, and pay online; the magician is confirmed against that slot. Send us the child's name and age, the number of guests, the venue type and whether the child is shy or a show-off. For the decoration to go with it, browse our kids birthday decoration range, and for everything else on offer, the kids party activities page.

The Short Version

A kids birthday magic show in Dubai is 40 minutes, seated, built for ages four to ten, AED 950 on its own or AED 1,099 as a two-hour combo with balloon twisting, hosting and a speaker. Book the combo for most home parties, the solo show when the rest is covered. Clear three metres at the front, add a side table, run it an hour into the party and before the cake, stop everything else while it's on, and tell us the birthday child's name and age.

Need help? Contact us
How much does a magician cost for a kids birthday party in Dubai?

AED 950 for a 35 to 40 minute magic show on balloondekor.ae, or AED 1,099 for the magician combo, where the same performer stays two hours and adds balloon twisting, hosting and a portable speaker. Combos with face painting or a bubble show are AED 1,499 to AED 1,799. The price is the same across the UAE.

How long is a kids birthday magic show?

35 to 40 minutes, performed standing at the front of the room to a seated audience. The magician brings his own music track and props. The two-hour combos add hosting before the show and balloon twisting after it.

What age is a magician suitable for?

Four to ten is the best range. Under four, a bubble show holds attention better. Over eleven, children enjoy trying to catch the tricks, but a science show usually suits them more. Tell us the ages so the magician pitches the set correctly.

Do I need a microphone or speaker for the magic show?

Not in a living room with up to about 15 children. The solo show includes a music track but not a sound system or mic, so for a hall, clubhouse or garden with 40 guests, hire a speaker and mic or book a combo, which brings a portable speaker.

Should I book the magic show or the magician combo?

The combo for most home parties: for AED 149 more the magician hosts for two hours, performs the show and twists balloons, with a speaker included. The solo show suits a party where an anchor or an art station already covers the rest, or a venue with its own sound.

How much space does a magician need?

A clear area about three metres by three at the front of the room, with a wall or the decoration behind the magician, a small side table for props, and the children seated on the floor in front with adults behind.

When in the party should the magic show happen?

About 40 to 50 minutes after the start, once everyone has arrived, and before the cake. For a two-hour party, that's the one-hour mark. Pause other activities while the show is on.
